Auditors reviewed 184 tax payments totaling $237,500 and found they were recorded properly and deposited intact but were not always remitted to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.

The office rejected 148 contracts and related transactions valued at $650 million and more than 1,400 payments valued at more than $7.6 million. For the second year in a row, property tax levy growth for school districts will be capped at 2 percent, according to data released today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. This 2 percent cap affects the tax cap calculations for 676 school districts as well as 10 cities with fiscal years starting July 1, 2019 including the “Big Four” cities of Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Yonkers.
