DiNapoli: Rochester Woman Arrested for Stealing $121K in Pension Checks Sent to Her Late Grandmother

A Rochester woman, Elona Roberts, was arrested today for the alleged theft of more than $121,000 in state pension checks that were sent to her deceased grandmother, New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced.

DiNapoli: Queens Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing $85,000 in NYS Pension Payments Meant for Her Deceased Father

A 37-year-old Queens woman pleaded guilty today to felony grand larceny for stealing nearly $85,000 in New York state pension payments meant for her deceased father, State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and Albany County District Attorney David Soares announced. The defendant, Deanna Hansen, faces up to 28 months to seven years in prison and will pay full restitution as part of the plea.

DiNapoli Audit Finds Hundreds of Millions of Dollars in Medicaid Payments Went to Providers Not Enrolled in the Program

An audit released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli found Medicaid managed care organizations made as much as $1.5 billion in improper and questionable payments to providers who did not appear to be enrolled in Medicaid. Generally, under federal and state law providers are supposed to be enrolled, a process that gives DOH assurance that they are equipped and eligible to deliver services.

DiNapoli: Former West Carthage Housing Authority Executive Director and Mother Pled Guilty for Over $48,000 Theft

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Jefferson County District Attorney Kristyna S. Mills, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of the Inspector General (HUD OIG), and the New York State Police today announced the pleas of former West Carthage Housing Authority (WCHA) Executive Director Jan Hoffman for stealing over $48,000 in WCHA funds, and Katherine (Katie) Pais, Hoffman’s mother and former WCHA consultant, for aiding in and concealing the scheme.

DiNapoli: Greenburgh-Graham Union Free School District Superintendent and Former Security System Specialist Arrested on Corruption Charges for Stealing School Funds

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that the former superintendent of schools and a former security system specialist of the Greenburgh-Graham Union Free School District were arrested on corruption charges for allegedly stealing school district funds earmarked for students and spending them on personal and luxury expenses between 2018 and 2022.

DiNapoli: NYC FY 2025 Budget Balanced With Strong Revenues and Cost Savings

Higher-than-projected revenue and cost-saving initiatives have helped New York City’s fiscal year (FY) 2024 budget generate a projected year-end surplus of $3.9 billion that will be used to prepay expenses for the next fiscal year, helping the city balance its FY 2025 executive budget, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli Releases Annual IDA Report

New York's local Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs) reported 4,320 active projects with a record high total value of $132 billion in 2022, an increase of $5 billion (3.9%), from 2021, according to State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli’s annual report.
