Approximately 460,000 New York Medicaid recipients diagnosed with diabetes received diabetes-related services costing more than $1.2 billion in state fiscal year (SFY) 2013-14, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli detailing the statewide costs of the disease. 

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced a tentative schedule for the planned sale of obligations for the state, New York City, and their major public authorities during the fourth quarter of 2015. 

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli made the following statement on the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy:

“Two years after Superstorm Sandy, many residents still face serious economic challenges. Even now, New Yorkers are relying on state government to provide resources. I hope that the new laws recommended by my office are helping communities pay storm expenses. Whether to expedite contracts or report on recovery funds spent by the state, my office will continue to assist so that we can rebuild our state and make sure the money is spent appropriately.”

A state Office of Mental Health (OMH) contractor hired to provide janitorial services failed to pay its workers prevailing wage rates and tried to hide its non-compliance with state law by misrepresenting hours worked and rates paid in certified payrolls it submitted to OMH, according to an audit released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.  

State tax collections of $34.2 billion through the first half of the fiscal year were nearly $610 million higher than projected and the state collected nearly $3.5 billion from financial settlements through September, according to the state monthly cash report and a mid-year report on revenue trends, released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today his office reviewed 1,962 contracts valued at $2.9 billion and approved nearly 1.2 million payments worth nearly $12.9 billion in September. His office also rejected 200 contracts and related transactions valued at $1.3 billion and nearly 1,500 payments valued at nearly $7.4 million due to fraud, waste or other improprieties.

The growing number of noise complaints related to nightlife establishments in New York City highlights the need for the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to better communicate and crack down on bars and clubs with persistent noise problems, according to an audit released today by State Comptroller Thomas P.
