Comptroller DiNapoli and AG Schneiderman Announce Conviction in $130,000 Pension Theft

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced today the conviction of John H. Eydeler III, 66, a resident of Glendale, Arizona, on his guilty plea to Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a Class C felony.  On October 12, 2016, Eydeler admitted to stealing pension payments from the New York State and Local Employees Retirement System intended for his mother, Dorothy Eydeler, a retired nurse who died in October of 1998. Today, he was sentenced to a five-year term of probation and a judgment in the amount of $131,038.60.

DiNapoli: Wall St. on Track for Higher Profits

The securities industry earned profits of $9.3 billion in the first half of 2016, which puts it on course for higher profits than last year and could end three years of consecutive declines, according to a report released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. 

DiNapoli: Special Education Pre-K Provider Claimed Nearly $1 Million in Ineligible Expenses

A Staten Island preschool special education provider, Gingerbread Learning Center Inc., claimed nearly $1 million in expenses that did not qualify for reimbursement from taxpayers, including bonuses that were never paid to staff, liquor store purchases and holiday parties, according to an audit released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. 

DiNapoli Announces State Contract and Payment Actions for September 2016

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today his office approved 1,685 contracts valued at $2.75 billion and approved nearly 1.7 million payments worth more than $12 billion in September. His office also rejected 162 contracts and related transactions valued at $330 million and nearly 1,400 payments valued at nearly $4.2 million due to fraud, waste or other improprieties.

DiNapoli Announces State Contract & Payment Actions for December 2014

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today his office reviewed 2,027 contracts valued at $3.3 billion and approved nearly 1.6 million payments worth nearly $10.5 billion in December. His office also rejected 178 contracts and related transactions valued at $252 million and more than 3,000 payments valued at nearly $2.2 million due to fraud, waste or other improprieties.

DiNapoli Applauds as Exxon Finally Agrees to Protect LGBT Rights

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced that ExxonMobil has, at long last, met the New York State Common Retirement Fund's request that it expand its equal employment and workplace protection policies to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Exxon's adoption of the Fund's proposal ends a long-running dispute between the corporation and a host of investors and advocates.
