DiNapoli: Bombay Clerk Charged in Theft of Justice Court Fees

A North Country court clerk is accused of pocketing more than $5,400 from the Bombay Justice Court while the other court clerk was absent, according to State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

Eric Fleury, 43, of Constable, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a D felony, in Dickinson Town Court. The alleged thefts were uncovered in an audit and investigation by DiNapoli’s office to review the court’s financial operations.

DiNapoli: State Must Improve Oversight of Most Dangerous Sex Offenders

The state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) is not adequately monitoring the state’s most dangerous sex offenders, often failing to make the minimum number of required monthly contacts and not performing mandated curfew checks, according to an audit issued today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

Comptroller DiNapoli & A.G. Schneiderman Announce Sentencing of Former Halfmoon Town Supervisor For Stealing Campaign Funds

Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced the sentencing of Melinda “Mindy” Wormuth, the former town of Halfmoon Supervisor, on state charges for stealing several campaign contributions donated to her campaign fund. The public corruption case arose out of a cooperative federal-state partnership between the State Comptroller, the Attorney General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York.

Halfmoon Town Supervisor Sentenced To 12 Months In Prison

Former Halfmoon Town Supervisor Melinda Wormuth was sentenced today to one year and one day in prison as a result of her convictions for extortion and making a false statement, announced State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Andrew W. Vale, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

United States District Judge Gary L. Sharpe also sentenced Wormuth to serve a 1-year term of supervised release, to begin after her release from prison, forfeit $3,000, and pay a fine of $7,500.

DiNapoli: Former Pharmacist Pleads Guilty In $232,000 Fake Prescriptions Scam

A former Long Island pharmacist admitted today he faked prescriptions to steal $232,000 in a fraud that was uncovered in two audits by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli’s office.

William Davis, 63, the former owner of Davis Ethical Pharmacy in Rockville Centre, pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the second degree in Nassau County District Court for sending phony prescription records for reimbursement to Medicaid and the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP) from 2008 through 2011.
