The Rochester City School District's payroll processes are disorganized, highly decentralized and not administered uniformly, resulting in errors that are costing taxpayers, according to an audit released today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Auditors also found numerous problems with how the district managed its purchases.

Schneiderman announced today the felony conviction of Pearlann MacVittie of West Seneca, New York, of the crime of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D felony. New York's prison population is decreasing, but the number of inmates age 50 and over rose 46 percent from 2007 to 2016, according to a report issued today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today his office approved 2,117 contracts valued at $18 billion and approved more than 4.3 million payments worth more than $21.7 billion in March.
