NY ABLE Program Helps New Yorkers With Disabilities and Their Families Cover Costs

New York state has a new savings plan, called the New York Achieving a Better Life Experience (NY ABLE) program, designed to help individuals with disabilities maintain their health, independence and quality of life. New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther and parents and advocates discussed the program today at a press conference in Albany. 

DiNapoli Announces State Contract and Payment Actions For December 2016

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today his office approved 1,866 contracts valued at $11.12 billion and approved nearly 2.8 million payments worth more than $10.8 billion in December. His office also rejected 253 contracts and related transactions valued at $5.76 billion and 919 payments valued at more than $9 million due to fraud, waste or other improprieties.

DiNapoli: Public Authorities Borrow and Spend Billions With Limited Transparency, Accountability

Public authorities in New York have accumulated $267 billion in debt, the equivalent of $13,487 for every resident in the state, according to a report issued today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. The amount of debt reported by state and local authorities is now posted on DiNapoli’s transparency website, OpenBookNewYork.com.

DiNapoli: Oversight of Supportive Housing Falls Short

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today released three audits of supportive housing providers for New Yorkers with mental illness, which found that a lack of monitoring by the state Office of Mental Health (OMH) allowed not-for-profit providers to bill for improper expenses, such as salaries, alcohol and spa services, and for health and safety violations to go uncorrected.

DiNapoli Highlights Investment in Rochester Region Through State Pension Fund

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today toured Ambrell, a Scottsville-based manufacturing firm, to highlight an investment made by the New York State Common Retirement Fund’s (Fund) In-State Private Equity Program. The Fund recently invested in Ambrell through the Hamilton Lane’s Hudson River Co-Investment Fund.

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today his office reviewed 2,092 contracts valued at $2.3 billion and approved nearly 2.2 million payments worth $10.4 billion in May. His office also rejected 146 contracts and related transactions valued at $692 million and more than 2,700 payments valued at more than $10 million due to fraud, waste or other improprieties.
