DiNapoli Releases Annual IDA Report

New York’s Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs) reported $784 million in net tax exemptions in 2018, up 4.4 percent from 2017, according to an annual report that summarizes the performance of IDAs issued today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that Ricardy Cesar, 54, of Middletown, N.Y., has been charged with Grand Larceny (felony) stemming from an investigation conducted by Investigators from the Rockland County District Attorney's Special Investigations Unit.

DiNapoli: Tax Cap Below Two Percent

Property tax levy growth for local governments with fiscal years closing Dec. 31 will be capped at 1.56 percent for 2021, according to State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. This figure affects tax cap calculations for all counties, towns, fire districts, 44 cities and 11 villages.

The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected many local governments’ revenues and its impact will likely be severe for many municipalities’ finances, according to a report released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

As sales tax revenues fall by double-digits and state aid is reduced or delayed, DiNapoli called on the federal government to provide aid to local governments before drastic service cuts occur.
