Local Sales Tax Collections Up

Overall growth in local sales tax collections statewide in 2019 was relatively strong, according to report released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Collections across the state, totaling $18.3 billion in 2019, grew by $815 million or 4.7 percent, from the previous year. While this was slower than the 5.3 percent annual growth for 2018, it exceeded growth in all other years since 2013.

DiNapoli Announces Guilty Plea in Town of Crawford Embezzlement Case

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Thursday, February 13, 2020, Jolene Roy, 45, of Pine Bush, pleaded guilty before Orange County Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown, to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Tampering with Public Records in the First Degree, in connection with the embezzlement of over $21,000 from the Town of Crawford, where Roy served as Town Clerk.

DiNapoli: Former Director Allegedly Stole $1,700 From Hornell Partners for Growth

The former Executive Director of Hornell Partners for Growth (HPG) was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree for allegedly stealing $1,711 in cash from the HPG’s Annual Fourth of July festival and earmarked for the city’s Business Improvement District, according to New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, the New York State Police and Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker.
