Payment Rejections and Other Cost Recoveries
The office rejected nearly 1,300 payments valued at more than $9.8 million, including tax refunds and credits valued at nearly $1.4 million. The Comptroller’s auditors also recovered more than $56,000 from vendors owing debts to the state, and held payments of more than $180,000 pending resolution of disputes between subcontractors and prime contractors.
Cumulatively through July for calendar year 2019, the Comptroller’s office has approved 11,260 contracts valued at $47.5 billion and approved more than 19.2 million payments worth nearly $89 billion. The office has rejected 974 contracts and related transactions valued at $3.5 billion and more than 24,600 payments valued at more than $169 million primarily due to errors, improprieties or lack of documentation.
