In December, the Office of the State Comptroller approved 2,332 contracts for state agencies and public authorities valued at $75.6 billion and approved nearly 1.8 million payments worth more than $15.6 billion. Other Contract and Payment Rejections and Other Cost Recoveries
DiNapoli’s office rejected tax refunds and credits valued at nearly $1.4 million. Auditors also recovered nearly $397,000 from vendors owing debts to the state and held nearly $98,000 in payments pending resolution of disputes between subcontractors and prime contractors.
Cumulatively through December for calendar year 2023, DiNapoli’s office approved 24,015 contracts valued at $140.8 billion and approved nearly 29 million payments worth more than $186 billion. The office rejected 2,113 contracts and related transactions valued at nearly $22.9 billion and more than 39,300 payments valued at nearly $224.6 million primarily due to errors, improprieties, or lack of documentation.
