Class captures the Period of Probable Usefulness (PPU) for General Obligation (GO) Bonds.
Class is used on bond proceeds transactions where the PPU is needed to identify the life of GO Bonds. It is also used to identify taxable and tax-exempt GO bond spending and reimbursement transactions. If a GO related program code is used on an SFS transaction, Class is a required field and will result in an error if omitted.
Class is considered a statewide ChartField, and as such has been configured under the SHARE SetID which means all agencies will be able to access the complete list of Class codes in SFS.
The Class ChartField is five alphanumeric digits in length. Class will identify the life of GO Bond proceeds as “PPU” followed by the number of years of life in the GO Bond series as stated in State Finance Law section 61. Class will identify taxable and tax-exempt status of transactions for GO Bond spending and reimbursements as follows:
- Taxable - Years of life in GO Bond series followed by “YTX”
- Tax-Exempt - Years of life in GO Bond series followed by “YTE”
