All Domestic Relations Orders (DROs) are subject to review and acceptance by the NYSLRS Matrimonial Bureau. Before drafting a DRO, carefully review the member’s retirement plan publication, how divorce can affect NYSLRS benefits, and our guide to Domestic Relations Orders.

The Domestic Relations Order (DRO) form allows you to input information about both parties and answer questions about the terms of your divorce agreement to generate a properly structured DRO. The options available will be based on the member’s retirement status, system and tier. Your selections must mirror the agreements reached between parties concerning the division of the pension benefits. While it’s use is not required, a DRO prepared using our form will be given priority review. 

Complete all required fields, as indicated by an asterisk (*), and refer to the field placeholders to ensure your input is formatted properly. Then click the Create Printable DRO button to generate a PDF of your DRO which you can download, save and print. Please be aware, some information must be written in after printing — such as the Participant’s (member’s) and Alternate Payee’s (former spouse’s) Social Security Numbers.
