New York State employees are entitled to employment protection when they serve in the Armed Forces. If an employee is on a leave from the State payroll to provide service in the military not related to the War on Terror, the agency must use the following Action/Reason codes on the employee’s Job Record in PayServ:
- LOA/MLL - (Mil Lv) pertains to Military Orders not related to the War on Terror. Places employee on an unpaid Leave of Absence.
- RFL/RLV – (Rein Leave) must be used to return employees from an LOA/M
Please note: Employees who are on a military leave that is unrelated to the War on Terror are not entitled to a bi-weekly military stipend.
